Information as of: updated 12 October 2026 · not legal advice – always check the EAG-Abwicklungsstelle and the current ordinance before applying
In 2026, the EAG investment grant remains the central federal subsidy for photovoltaics and – under clear conditions – battery storage in Austria. For installers, the call calendar is both a sales argument and a deadline: those who are prepared submit complete applications on time. For homeowners, what counts is: apply for the subsidy before the system goes into operation – and know that storage on its own is generally not subsidised under the EAG.
Involtis supplies installers with Deye hybrid inverters and Easyway UNIV storage. This article summarises the publicly documented key facts and shows how partners can use the subsidy in sales conversations.
What is subsidised?
According to oesterreich.gv.at and the summary by the WKO, the following applies:
- New construction or extension of a grid-connected photovoltaic system,
- and the simultaneous purchase of a battery storage system in connection with it.
Processing is handled by the EAG-Abwicklungsstelle (EAG processing agency). The legal basis is the EAG Investment Grants Ordinance for Electricity (2026 amendment) – always check details and forms there.
PV subsidy rates 2026 (according to oesterreich.gv.at)
| Category | System size | Subsidy rate |
|---|---|---|
| A | up to 10 kWp | €150/kWp (fixed) |
| B | > 10 to 20 kWp | €140/kWp (fixed) |
| C | > 20 to 100 kWp | maximum €130/kWp (tender procedure) |
| D | > 100 to 1,000 kWp | maximum €120/kWp (tender procedure) |
Battery storage
- €150/kWh (according to WKO for storage up to 50 kW within the described framework),
- exclusively together with a subsidy application for a new PV system or PV extension,
- no stand-alone EAG subsidy for storage or storage extensions.
This is decisive for retrofit discussions: anyone who only adds storage to an unchanged existing system typically does not qualify for the EAG storage subsidy. If the PV is extended and the storage is included in the application, the storage share may be eligible. More on this: Retrofitting battery storage.
Important exclusion and procedural rules (WKO)
- At the time of the first application, the commissioning of the measure to be subsidised must not yet have taken place.
- For categories A and B, the calls follow the first come, first served principle.
- For C and D, a tender procedure with maximum rates applies.
According to the EAG-Abwicklungsstelle, the 3rd call grants a 10% supplement each for PV modules, inverters and storage with European value creation (“Made in Europe” bonus). Whether it applies to a specific project must be checked against the components and the current FAQs of the processing agency – do not promise it across the board.
Subsidy calls 2026 (according to oesterreich.gv.at)
| Period | Note on funds (excerpt) |
|---|---|
| 23 April – 11 May 2026 | e.g. cat. A/B €5m each; C/D €15m each |
| 16 June – 30 June 2026 | e.g. cat. A/B €2m each; C/D €4m each |
| 8 October – 22 October 2026 | incl. categories A–D €2m each according to the ordinance; increased to a total of 38.5 million euros (BMWET, 7 Oct 2026) |
Currently relevant (as of 12 Oct 2026): The third and final call of 2026 runs until 22 October 2026, 23:59. Since 9 October, applications can also be submitted directly in the EAG portal without a ticket. For categories A/B the time of submission decides – submit complete documents straight away.
Outlook 2027: retrofitting battery storage
A new funding model is planned for 2027, including a storage system bonus that also covers retrofitting existing systems. The details are still open, and the necessary change in law requires a two-thirds majority in parliament. More on the technology: Retrofitting battery storage.
Styria and state subsidies: keep them separate
The EAG grant applies throughout Austria. Additional state or municipal funds are optional and change frequently.
For Styria, according to the sources checked:
- According to the sources checked, there is no simple, permanent state lump sum that can be documented in this article specifically for every standard rooftop PV system.
- The programme “Thermische Sanierung mit Sanierungskonzept” (thermal renovation with renovation concept) (Wohnbau Steiermark, start according to the page: 1 June 2026) subsidises thermal renovation measures on buildings – not automatically photovoltaics or storage as a substitute for the EAG.
- Regional providers and guides point out that Styrian additional PV programmes have been exhausted or revised in the past – always check with the state or municipality before quoting.
Other federal states (e.g. their own storage retrofit programmes in Tyrol or Burgenland according to their guidelines) are not transferable to Styrian projects.
Practical checklist for installers
- Determine the category (kWp of the subsidised measure) and only include storage if the PV is new/extended.
- Watch the call windows; for A/B, speed counts.
- No commissioning before applying – synchronise site planning and subsidy windows.
- Clarify the grid connection / metering point early (regionally e.g. via the grid operator; in Styria, among others, Energie Steiermark with its PV guideline steps).
- Choose components you can supply and support: hybrid inverters and LiFePO4 storage from a single source reduce interfaces.
- Inform customers honestly: the EAG is an investment grant, not a guaranteed return; budgets may be exhausted before the call ends.
How Involtis partners use the subsidy in their quotations
A coherent quotation in 2026 often combines:
- PV extension or new system (eligible),
- Deye hybrid inverters (6–20 kW low-voltage or HV series as per our range),
- Easyway UNIV storage (e.g. from the 7.68 kWh wall battery to scalable 16 kWh/FlexiStack solutions),
- and – if desired – emergency power capability via hybrid + storage + professional switching.
Involtis supplies installers throughout Austria, with a warehouse in the country and a typical delivery time of 2–5 days after ordering (availability on request). Terms and training: For dealers.
For homeowners
- Have the quotation and eligibility checked by an authorised installer.
- Rough calculation: e.g. 10 kWp → guidance 10 × €150 = €1,500 PV grant (cat. A), plus storage only if combined with a PV application (€150/kWh) – no guarantee, depending on the call and approval.
- Submit the application via the EAG-Abwicklungsstelle procedure before commissioning.
- You obtain components such as Easyway and Deye through your installer – not via direct sales from Involtis.
